Dataagri 2024 celebrated in the Innovation Hub La Vega Innova

Datagri 2024 was celebrated in La Vega Innova on 13 and 14 of November. La Vega Innova is the Innovation Hub for the agrifood sector of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, based in San Fernando de Henares (Madrid region).

Dataagri is the annual meeting point for the agri-food network, from the producer to the retailer. The event brings together all the nodes of the agri-food network to present technological innovations, establish new synergies and generate business opportunities to work towards sustainable, safe and quality agriculture.

During the two days of presentations and field demonstrations, the need to attract young talent to the agricultural sector to accelerate the process of digital transformation has been highlighted. Artificial intelligence and robotics have been the main focus of the content presented.

After 6 editions, the Datagri Forum is a consolidated event and a benchmark in Europe and Latin America for discovering the next technological trends in the sector worldwide. The results obtained during this edition raised a global audience of 9.5 million impacts: 6.4 million reach on social networks, 18,500 online interactions, 2,200 tweets during the event, 2,757 attendees (40% in person and 60% via streaming), and 3 million through the media. These figures illustrate the good momentum of the Spanish agritech sector and the dynamism of the sector at a global level.

A wide range of solutions, projects and innovation services were presented, including some of them involved within the Thematic Partnership on Traceability & Big Data, represented through the regions involved. For example, from the Andalusian and Galician nodes, the AgrifoodTEF project was presented. Furthermore, the Andalucia Agrotech Digital Innovation Hub and the University of Cordoba presented advancements through the HIBA+ project, as commented in the previous edition of this monthly newsletter.

In addition, several round table discussions were organized. Specifically, the traceability in the agrifood value chain round table joined different companies which shared the different initiatives they are implementing on the field. Moreover, specific round tables about data management for smart livestock, Artificial Intelligence applied for agriculture, Internet of Things for earth observation or agrifood data spaces were some of the interesting panels developed.

In 2025, the DATAGRI Forum will move to the Region of Murcia, Spanish Autonomous Community in which the agri-food sector is the economic and social backbone.
