The Interreg Project “Hub Iberia Agrotech” (called HIBA) is an initiative that joins multiregional actors from Portugal and Spain with a budget of €5,3 million. The project aims to build a multiregional ecosystem devoted to the agrifood sector through Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs). HIBA will join quadruple helix actors from Portuguese and Spanish DIHs, strengthening connexion among local ecosystems on agrifood innovation. Nineteen partners are working on the project, until December 31st 2022.
HIBA is led by the Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development of Andalusia through the Andalucia Agrotech DIH. The project will create testing services on technologies related to earth observation, robotics, internet of things (IoT) and artificial intelligence; it will include training on digital transformation and entrepreneurship for vocational training, university and civil society; in addition, it will implement an assessment service on digital transformation for agrifood SMEs.
HIBA remains in line with European policies. Thus, it will promote the local SMEs growth in the participant regions through specific programs based on open innovation and smart specialization, being in line with the strategies of Horizon Europe, Digital Europe and DG CONNECT, which proposes a structured collaboration among European DIHs. Additionally, HIBA is aligned with the regional strategies of smart specialization (RIS3) of the regions involved by promoting innovation and go to market activities.
