Last 17 – 19 May took place Food 4 Future in the Bilbao Exhibition Centre (Bilbao, Spain) a new international event conceived as a place to be for any professional in the food industry and its value chain. The technological aspect was also present through providers presenting their food technology applications, robotics and automation, data technology, or processing techniques.
This annual event is co organised by AZTI, a scientific and technological centre that develops high-impact transformation projects in the Basque Country. AZTI is also one of our Traceability and Big Data thematic partnership members which works very actively together with the Regional Government of the Basque Country on the agrifood sector.
In this second edition the event counted on at least 7 different forums full of conferences, round tables and pitches. The exhibition area brought together many different entities related not only to digitalisation but also with food technology. Still there are not official figures from the event though the organisation calculated around 7,000 people attending the BEC (Bilbao Exhibition Centre).
The Regional Ministry for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development, as the coordinator of the thematic Partnership on Traceability and Big Data on the agrifood value chain, attended this very interesting event and took advantage to meet many interesting entities, some start-ups amongst them, and get to know different digital solutions for the agrifood sector.
Also, we had the opportunity to spend some time with our colleagues from AZTI and EIT Food, the world’s largest and most dynamic food innovation community which is supported by the EU, strengthening collaboration there.
